Understanding
Your Ultrasound

An ultrasound is an important step in early pregnancy care. Here's what you need to know.

What is an Ultrasound?

An ultrasound uses sound waves to create an image of the inside of your uterus. It's painless, safe, and takes about 15-20 minutes.

What Does It Show?

  • Confirms viable pregnancy (baby is developing in the uterus)
  • Estimates gestational age (how far along you are)
  • Detects heartbeat
  • Identifies if there are multiples

Why It Matters

No matter what you're considering, an ultrasound gives you crucial information. About 20% of pregnancies end in natural miscarriage, so confirming viability is an important first step.
