Free STI Testing for
Pregnant Moms

Protecting your health during pregnancy means protecting your baby too. We offer free, confidential STI testing as part of our pregnancy care services.

Why STI Testing During Pregnancy Matters

Untreated STIs during pregnancy can have serious consequences for both you and your baby. Many STIs have no symptoms, so you may not know you have an infection without testing. The good news is that most STIs are treatable, and early detection can prevent complications.

Premature Birth

Certain untreated STIs, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, are linked to an increased risk of premature labor and delivery, which can lead to health challenges for your baby.

Low Birth Weight

STIs can contribute to low birth weight, which is associated with developmental delays and health problems in newborns. Early treatment helps reduce this risk.

Eye Infections & Pneumonia

Chlamydia and gonorrhea can be passed to your baby during delivery, potentially causing eye infections (neonatal conjunctivitis) or pneumonia in the newborn.

Congenital Syphilis

Untreated syphilis during pregnancy can cause stillbirth, severe birth defects, or life-threatening illness in the newborn. Syphilis is easily curable with antibiotics when caught early.

HIV Transmission

Without treatment, HIV can be passed from mother to baby during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding. With proper care and medication, the risk of transmission drops to less than 1%.

Herpes Risks

Herpes can be passed to the baby during delivery if you have an active outbreak. Knowing your status allows your healthcare provider to take precautions to protect your baby.

What We Test For

As part of our pregnancy care, we test for common STIs that can affect your pregnancy and your baby's health. Testing is a routine part of prenatal care and nothing to feel embarrassed about.
